Ayurveda: Ayurveda, in the Sanskrit language of India, literally translates to the science [or wisdom] of life. Ayur translates to life and Veda translates to wisdom, knowledge of science, Since its origin thousands of years ago, Ayurveda has a continuous tradition of professional practice, research and education. It has become an inseparable part of the culture and daily lifestyle of traditional families in India.
Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of creating and maintaining positive health, Its focus is on preventing the imbalances that lead to disease. For prevention as well as for treatment, an individualized, multi-dimensional approach is taken. Ayurveda is strikingly different from other medical sciences because it recognizes that each person is made up of a unique body type and a unique psychological personality. Thus, instead of assuming that all of us are identical machines, Ayurveda respects, the uniqueness of each person. Secondly, Ayurveda does not limit itself to physical or psychological dimensions. It considers all the levels of a person, which include the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, behavioral, physical, familial, social, environmental and universal levels.Ayurvedic Treatments:
Panchakarma:
Detoxification procedures in Ayurveda are Panchakarma which, literally means five (Pancha) procedures (Karma):
Vamana (Therapeutic vomiting)
Virechana (Therapeutic purgation)
Niruha Vasti (Cleansing enemas)
Anuvasana Vasti (Oleation enemas)
Nasya (to give medicines through nasal route)
Pre-Panchakarma Procedures:
There are two preliminary procedures known as Snehana (unction therapy) and the second Swedana (sudation therapy). These are done simultaneously to loosen the Doshas and to bring them back to the smaller channels back to the larger one’s. For this purpose, first a large amount of fat is given to patient/ healthy person. As a result, extra Doshas, in the form of fat soluble by products, will be dissolved and will be eliminated by the nearest route. Following these procedures a person is prepared to receive panchakarma.
Post Panchakarma Procedures:
After the deep cleansing of Panchakarma procedures, our body becomes weak due to the exertion to the whole system. Now, to provide energy and balanced the Doshas to body, a special diet is followed strictly to boost the digestive fire. By this diet restriction, (Kitchardri) the body can digest and assimilate all the food articles. Now the drug or food, whatever is given to the body, will work maximum and give optimal results.
Cost is determined by the length of the cleanse (from 250-1000.00)

Yoga Therapy:
The aim of yoga therapy is to aid a yoga practitioner to raise themselves out of their conditions. It is a vastly different approach towards healing that leads an individual out of their conditions, injuries, depression, pain and emotional trauma. Through diet, movement, breathing, meditation, mantra, and yogic sleep many conditions of the body, mind and spirit can be overcome. At the very least, it can help one to deal with their condition in a more integrated and holistic way.
Yoga therapy is ideally a temporary approach that leads one back to optimal health. However, some patients are yoga therapy patients for a lifetime due to their specific condition. By developing and understanding of what is happening one can respond differently.
Yoga Therapy is the adaptation of poses, breathing and relaxation techniques, and/or meditation to meet the specific needs of the individual. This approach is ideal for injuries, and physical or mental conditions. Yoga Therapy is not a replacement for traditional medicine or physical/psychological therapy but rather is a complementary modality for optimal healing. As a holistic model for healing, Yoga Therapy treats the whole person rather than just the symptom(s).
In a yoga therapy session, we work together to assess your specific needs and design a practice specifically for you. Sessions include breath work, meditation, Yoga Nidra and movement. Working individually with a Yoga Therapist can serve to help with a specific health condition as well as finding peace with life and relationship issues. You will be taught valuable tools for stress and it's inherit cycels and enhancing your well-being.
Some of the health conditions that Yoga Therapy can be helpful for, include: anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, chronic pain, lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, pregnancy, menopause and pre-menstrual syndrome, neck pain, knee pain, headaches, high blood pressure, insomnia, and irritable bowel syndrome.
Sessions can be recorded and transferred to a CD, so that the therapy can be continued at home.

Private Session
If you are new to yoga, finding an appropriate class can be a daunting experience. A private yoga session is a non-intimidating way to discover firsthand if the teacher and approach are right for you. Working one-on-one with a teacher is an opportunity to ask detailed questions and find your own comfort level in a private and supportive environment. In the first private session we get to know each other, review your personal needs and goals, and assess posture and breath patterns. In addition, you will learn basic breathing techniques and postures that form the foundation of a yoga practice. Future sessions can serve to develop a home practice, help with a particular injury or health issue, and, if desired, help you transition into group classes. One yoga private is the equivalent of 20 public classes.
Private yoga sessions are appropriate for a beginner student as well as more seasoned practitioners. Private work with a teacher is a vital part of yoga. Sessions may include breath work, postures, and/or meditation and can be recorded and transferred to a CD, so that students can easily practice at home. Whether private instruction serves as your primary approach or you periodically choose it to complement your group class experience, we strongly encourage this important work with a teacher.

Postural Analysis and Walking Therapy:
The average person takes over 5000 thousand steps per day. The active individual takes over 10,000 steps per day. The question I often ask is, "Are you walking towards or away from your healing?" According to my dear friend and mentor ,Sherry Brourman, ,(Walk Yourself Well) most of us have inherited our gait (walking pattern) from our parents. In the seven years I have been working with gait therapy, I have heard many of my students / patients say that their back problem, knee issue or other musculoskeletal issue's are hereditary. However, most of the time it is the unhealthy habit's that were passed down from parent to child. If you watch most mother's and daughter's walk together you will see that they walk exactly the same. Fortunately, this is changeable.
Many of us need small alterations in our walk our shoes and don't even know it. Many of my students come to yoga, as a response to the pain or tension, that they experience in their daily life. Then, I see them get up and walk out the door in the exact pattern that brought them there in the first place. Consequently, I strongly advocate posture analysis and gait therapy training, since you are walking anyway. Your not doing yoga all day but you are walking. Why not transform your walk and posture to find balance all day.
